2XUCompression Run

My calf looks like this

After much deliberations with Wee Yeh and Shen Tat, we have decided that our first run for 2011 to be the 2XU compression run. It is a 12 km run. As you may have observed, we are a group that firmly believed in gradual training towards our target. If you have recalled in my running workplan for 2011 as well as my blog entry on the lesson learnt from running half marathon, preparation is everything.  In this regard, this 2XUcompression run will serve as a milestone for our 21 km in Sundown marathon in May.

Part of the reason we have chosen this run is also because at competitive level, the goodie bag include a calf guard. This is ideal for a person with a large calf (like mine) that tends to get cramps when I run for very long distance. My wife once told me that I have a calf that looks like a HUGE carrot. Very big on top and very small at the bottom. It didn’t bother me much then because I thought it is a wifey thing to always comment about their husband. During my first oversea run, my good friend Shen Tat commented the same again. This time, it caught my attention. When I look at my calf recently, I have to admit that they are right. Obviously with a pair of calf so big and precious, I need to make sure it is well protected. The calf guard comes in handy. :P

Curse of running too much too slowly … sigh… :(
