As part of our continuous effort to improve the standard of training for the IT systems under my charge, recently I worked with my colleague, Candice to explore eLearning solutions. To our delights, we found out that our University’s Centre for Instructional Technologies (CIT) has tons of such softwares at our disposal. We tried out two of such software namely, Adobe Breeze and Camtasia. Breeze allows existing powerpoint slides to be converted into a web based presentation with voice recording. Camtasia allows PC screen video capturing with narratives. All pretty cool experiences if you asked me. We are quite happy with it’s potentials.
Working together, we are now systematically converting all our training materials into voice recordings. It is a long and tedious process and I hope the administrators who are our targeted audiences can appreciate this.
By the way, using these software does come with quite a lot of trial and errors. Not to mention, some hair raising and pulling moments. Nevertheless, I am quite impressed with what can be done with this 2 software. I foresee more of this to come in the near future. I get so excited over new technologies – a curse and an unique trait of an IT nerd.
